In my opinion Voluntary Simplicity is related with fairness and friendship.
Co-living or permaculture are another movements related with friendship and good/healthy human relations. The ideea behind them is simple: collaboration and partnership could be more appropriate strategies for a better life for a long run.
Voluntary Simplicity is about living and working in a meaningful way, living and working in a friendly and ecological way, doing something valuable for you and for your larger communities too. And, in the same time, it means living and working in a healthy way, building healthy relations around you.
It is clear: fair, healthy and friendly ways are always simple, enjoyable and request not so much struggle. Not-so-fair, not-so-friendly ways (based on inequity and unjustice) always are disputed and and always are stressful and request too much struggle. Choosing Voluntary Simplicity means to chose a fair and friendly way to live, in respect for others rights, needs and aspirations. And here ”others” means all the living creatures. They have the right to live in their proper way too.
